"I have a 1987 Evinrude 2.5HP, Model E3RCUA, S/N B1368231 that seems to overheat. When I run it in a tank it runs good but no water comes out the exit holes. I put my hand there, and there is a lot of air that comes out, but little or no water. The plate on the bottom of the head starts to get pretty hot. I only ran the motor for 30 seconds max. and then waited an hour before starting again. I starts and runs fine. I would like to replace the impeller but most on-line parts sites do not list this 2.5 Evinrude.
1) What is the correct part number for my impeller?
2) I was told that there was a factory update on the impeller for 87 Evinrudes, is this correct?
3) When I replace the impeller is the any other parts needed? Like a gasket or anything else.
4) Does anyone have a drawing showing the water cooling circuit on this motor or a typical motor?
