Noticed an intermittent "klunk" coming from the outdrive. Not a loud one, but obvious. Took her to a seasoned mechanic with 40 yrs experience and he replaced the gimball bearing, a shaft/sleeve, checked the dif. & reverse gears - ok and almost $500 later - 6 weeks later and took her out and still the same klunk. I found the Hastings site - threw that at the mechanic and replaced the shift cable. Finally, July 28th, took it out for a spin and it ran perfectly, we really thought we kicked this klunk. On the 2nd trip out - as soon as we hit the throttle leaving the marina - "klunk". We were hoping that perhaps it is just settling in the water... It did this twice and both times during acceleration, once under load pulling a tube. Is this something serious, or is this just going to be something expected for a 20 year old boat? Maybe the shift cable needs adjustment - we don't know. We have ran out of options - any thoughts or personal experience?"
