1986 Evinrude 120hp hard start

Have to attempt starting multiple times. Previous 80's evinrudes I've owned you would push in key to engage choke, on this engine I hear no choke engagement and I cannot see a choke or solenoid for one. Does it have a choke or is it self priming or something?

Pretty sure that it is a fuel enrichment system, not a choke. Pushing in the key while starting should activate a solenoid to send fuel directly to the cylinders, bypassing the carbs. Yours may be nonfunctional. Pretty easy to check. Find the hose off that solenoid and disconnect it stick the end of hose into a jar and crank while pushing in the key.
