Folks,

I am in a quandary here. Just got my rebuilt outdrives on and all ready to go when my Starboard engine wont start. Bad Starter. Smoked the battery wire.
So, I have found about 9 different part numbers for a starter. This should be a standard chevy 350 small block no?
This is a 1986 Sun Runner with twin AQ260/290A drives.

Also, Ricardo mentions a HTGR/PMGR starter. What part number for that should I look for?

As always, thanks for the help.

Your engines are fitted with 153 tooth ring gear flywheels.
You'll need starter motors with the straight across bolt pattern.

HTGR/PMGR = high torque gear reduction/permanent magnet gear reduction .
These are the smaller starter motors with a gear reduction unit at the nose area.
This gives these much more torque than a standard non-gear reduction .

Most all today will be this style.

Thanks Rick,

Do these engines rotate in a clockwise direction?
Sounds like any early chevy small block starter will do.
Do you have a part number for the high torque starter?

Regards,

Kevin
