1985 evinrude 115 hp sidedraft two barrel carbs

Hi Guys, new to site , my name is cliff . Am rebuilding carbs on my motor. I have three questions if any one can answer would appreciate it . 1st have always put carbs in berrymans,but these carbs have plastic barbed fittings for fuel lines. is berrymans still ok or should I just spray with carb cleaner, they are very gummy. 2nd--Do i need to pop aluminum plugs out, carb kits give me new ones. 3rd-- is there a dimension for float level off & full open , get a list of dimensions on my rodchester & eldenbrock carbs in rebuild kits.. does the service manuals have these answsers in them. Am going to order soloc manual ,but havent done it yet.. tks for any answsers Cliff
 
Get an OMC factory service manual That seloc really sucks !!! Best carb cleaner I've found is BRP Engine Tuner. Won't hurt plastic carbs or parts.
 
TKS for reply Bobbie, will do on service manual , Glad i didn't order when i bought carb kits from this sight , Except i expected instructions in pkg like my auto carb kits . Now i will have to wait to get manual to finish carbs . But such is LIFE :rolleyes:. Never heard of brp, But will look ( been ten years since i rebuilt a carb , last carb I switched from rodchester to An eldenbrock with elec choke.. But i thought berrymans eats plastic . So thanks for your time & trouble , will do on both suggestions . CLIFF B :)
 
Hi guys again , Got manuals today . Read on float level . full open is 1" plus or minus an 1/8" , COOL!!!! now problem SAYS I NEED P/N 324891 to set float (needle ) closed height. all videos i watched says set float level to base . Mine measures 7/16 at back to 17/32 at front , 3/32 off . Now question should i just set level ( make sense ) or can somebody tell me dimension or do have to order guage . At this rate i will be able to take boat pheasant hunting ..:cool::cool:
 
Thanks again for help bobbie, makes sense. Everytime i rebuilt carbs always came with cardboard gauges in kit . Would have just bought gauge if no answer .. BUT WASNT SURE HOW TO TEACH BOAT TO FETCH!!!!AGAIN TKS..
 
Thanks for reply johnnygjr, Did pop them out . got carbs cleaned , put back in plugs , SET FLOATS LEVEL . Going out to put back on now .. Hope it purrs like kitty.
