Hello all. I have a 1984 black max 150 hp (I can tell the year by the color of the decals that are on the motor, kind of a yellow/tan color). My problem is that when I bought the motor from the owner, he failed to mention the missing serial number identification plate (I guess it's supposed to be on the mount port or starboard side). I have heard the serial number is located on the freeze plug on the top of the powerhead, but when I scraped the paint off there was no number there. Any suggestion? I ask because since I dressed it up, fixed it, and got it running I would like to sell it sometime in the near future. No serial number normally indicates a stolen motor, however, I know this isn't the case here. Thanks.
