I have a 1981 350 Mercruiser 350CU 260 HP I/O with very low hours on it. I replaced the points with a Pertronix ignition module and Flamethrower coil and it ran fine. Now the boat stalls after 20 minutes of pulling skiers and won't start again until it cools down, then it starts right up. The temp gauge is well within operating range but the engine seems to be running hotter than normal. The Pertronix is wired to a 12V switched wire. The fuel tank vent line is clear. Pertronix says that the ignition module requires a certain voltage to work and as heat rises so does resistance. Could the Pertronix be defective?
