1977 Johnson 85 with newer control?

I recently bought a 1977 Johnson 85 that came with the controls. I don't like how the throttle lever doesn't have the trim switch made into it. My previous motor was a 1984 Johnson 90 which the control has the trim switch made into it. I'm curious if anyone knows for a fact if I can use the newer control on the older motor? Any help would be great appreciated! Thx, Jon

Ok, so I've done a bit of research and I currently have type 479 cables on the boat now with a motor that accepts type 400 cables. My question is how can I change the connections on the motor to accept the 479 cables? Thanks alot
