1976 70 horse evinrude problem

" the moter runs fine at idle

" the moter runs fine at idle in nuetral when put in gear it sputters and dies, unless i move throttle to half speed. the moter runs fine from half speed to 3/4 speed then i will have to choke it for a second to get it to go full throttle. which i dont really care about i just want the boat to go slow so that i can go fishing. any and all advice will help. thanx "
 
Check compression and check t

Check compression and check that spark will jump a 3/8" gap or better on each cylinder.
 
I am having similar probs wit

I am having similar probs with my Evinrude e.g. will stall when put into gear and once warm is hard to start. Have my boat in workshop so hopefully a problem will be found

" I have the same problem with my 82 70hp evenrude outboard. every time i put it in gear will die. when the gear is past the low speed it will run fine, I am triyng to to leave the docks without shuting off. any advise. "
