When the engine is in the water, is it supposed to shoot water out from somewhere? been watchin a few videos of outboard motors and some of them shoot a small stream of water from them.
 
Not all engines have a "tell-tale" indicator. It simply shows that water is flowing through the engine and hopefully, cooling it. Other engines don't have a dedicated "tell-tale" though and the water exits through the exhaust or other less visible ports.
