1974 2Hp Evinrude Model 2402E - How Much Gear Oil To Use?

This outboard only has one screw (it is a small outboard!). How do I fill the lower unit? Lay it on it side and fill it totally? Fill it up and then put it up vertically and let the oil leak out until it is even with the bottom of the screw hole? I don't have the owner's manual or maintenance manual for it. Thanks in advance.

On it's side.-----Fill the hole.----Put the plug in.
