1972 65 hp johnson no spark

hi i have a 1972 65 hp johnson with no spark. i have tested everything by the manual,and the only thing ive found is very litlle resistance between the two brown wires from the stator to the ignition pack, and no voltage? the book says i should have 500 ohms and 150 volts. Anyways i have pulse going to the ignition coils but still no fire. is it possible for the stator to go out and still have pulse to the coils?and if so does that mean that my timer base is ok?thank you! i have already tried a new ignition coil,and a powerpack and rectifier off a buddys 65hp.
