1971 Evinrude 25 hp jumping out of gear

Any thoughts on why motor would jump out gear when under load pin is,
ok?

Does it feel like you hut something?-----Does motor rev up?----Checked the rubber hub in the prop?----

This unit has a shear pin drive shifter comes completely out of forward position.

It has a drive pin and not a shear pin !!----It has a rubber hub in the prop.----Sounds like you might have to replace forward gear and clutch dog.------Get ready for sticker shock.------Seal kit / impeller / gears will add up to many beer tokens.
