1966 60 hp no ign.

A friend gave me a larson 1966 runabout with 1966 evinrude.cranks fine but no ign.Has a upside down dist. on it & there is no spark at the coil.im hoping someone has delt with this problem because im out of idea's.Thank you for any help you can give me.

Best thing to do... is order the Manual and Parts catalog for the engine.. This website has them.
What is your engines model#? It can be found on the left transom-mount, or a 1" silver disc on top the left cylinder bank.
I have a '67 60HP and a '68 65HP. I think your "upside-down" distributor is actually a magneto. I can scan some troubleshooting pages for you to get you started.

Thanks man for the help.Im sorry i been so long getting back but i had some computer problems,anyway I did take the dist. off the motor& your right it did have a magneto in it.I cleaned ever thing up in it & got the fire i needed.Thank you again for the help.

That's great news..
Now, you do know that you need to replace the impeller and change the gear-oil in the leg.... standard procedure for an "unknown" engine.
