1962 Johnson 40hp RKL-24

I need voltage regulator for my motor. It is listed as not available. Marine Engines suggested I post a note here to get suggestion on what I could use instead of the one listed on their parts list. The part number is 0381538. The one I have had a lot of surface rust on the parts inside. I am trying to clean it up. Any suggestions what I could use as a replacement or where I could I find a used one.

Your location ?---More to the story.----How do you know it is bad ?-----And have you polarized the generator / voltage regulator.----Or no idea on how to do that ancient procedure?-----If in Canada -----evinrudeparts.ca----might help.

Perhaps use----google-----polarizing a generator-----Might put you on the path to a happy outcome.
