I have a new to me '61 Johnson 40hp. Turns out the top of the engine is broken... the ring around the upper bearing/seal has broken off. Can a new bearing/seal be installed, and run succesfully without this 'ring'?
Also, can the johnson powerhead be swapped with a 1960 Evinrude 40hp (35018)? With the Johnson electric start system bolt on without issue?
