I have a 1980 150 hp Black max on my bass boat and lately it has had a slight intermittent miss. It has been slow to get on plane as well. The last time took it out it still had a bad miss that was off and on but It didn't want to get on plane at all. I was thinking it was a spark issue but figured I would do a compression test first and found it has a cylinder that has low compression and one that is totally dead. Is there anything that would cause this other than a bad piston/rings? If it was just bad compression I don't see how it could be intermittent.
