We have bought a 3100 metric tons deadweight general cargo ship equipped with One Internal Combustion MWM Engine type: TBD 440-8K , 441 Kw/ 600 HP.
The vessel has been idle for the last 9 months.
I would highly appreciate
- to know from the experts if MWM are reliable engines
- if this particular engine will need to get overhauled , especially when has been idle for 9 months ( do not know exactly when she was last overhauled but can find out from her previous owners)
- if there is any expert out there that will be able to carry out a pre-inspection of the engine at her specific european port (where the ship is right now idle) and give us his ideas
- how easy is nowdays to get the necessary spare parts on this specific engine/model and are they expensive comparing with other type of engines
