Prop size question

"I just recently acquired a 19

"I just recently acquired a 1972 Glastron 16' boat. It has the 130C/270. I had to get a rebuilt head and replace the head gasket. The first time we took it out I was disapointed with the performance. I realize this is an old boat with a small 4 cylinder, but I thought I could get a little more out of it. I had trouble pulling up a skier. Compression and ignition timing are good. Engine rpm was 4400 at WOT. Could I get a little more rpm with a different prop? How well do these boats perform for water skiing? I know my prop is 14", but I am not sure of the pitch. I don't see any numbers on it either. What size prop will help? thanks!"

"My boat (1972 17' Del

"My boat (1972 17' Delta v-hull runabout, 130C/270) is probably somewhat similar and I have a 14.5x17 prop on it and I get about 5200-5400 RPM at WOT, so you may be over propped. At 4600 RPM, I'm cruising at about 28-30 mph with two large adults in the boat. I would like to try a 14x19 prop but this prop works well as long as I don't cruise at WOT."
