Need insight of 8HP 2 cycle carb issues

Just rebuilt fuel pump and car

Just rebuilt fuel pump and carb on 1995 8hp 2 cycle and cannot get motor to idle no matter what I do to adjustment wise to the carb. The only way I can get to idle(high at that)is to choke it at about @ 1/3 choke out. Needless to say this makes it tough to maneuver the boat in tight quarters! Would appreciate some advice to know what to go after here in this situation.

Use some carby cleaner with a

Use some carby cleaner with a nozzle to spary through the orifices and pasage ways to ensure thwy are no blocked...if everything appears ok the motor may have an air leak into the crankcase
