That usually indicates that the main tilt piston is scuffing the insides of the cylinder going down.

"If this is the cause of the problem, and unfortunately it usually is, there is no easy fix. The cure, for me anyway, has been to replace the tilt cylinder.

Possibly someone else here has enounter that same problem and found a different cause. I'd appreciate hearing about it if it exists.
