"I have a 1980 Johnson Tilt Trim assembly. I just did a complete seal job and also replaced the trim motor.
My problem: I checked the trim motor after assembly to see if it worked. The motor only worked while the down button was pressed. The solenoid clicked when the up button was pressed. I didn't replace the trim fluid yet because I want to make sure I don't have to tear down the unit again. Also, the assembly bleed screw feels like it is welded tight. I'm unable to move it. Please give a diagnosis.

I'm going to directly attach the battery to the motor to see if it works. Will posts results tomorrow."

"Asuming you have the three (3) wire PTT electric motor..... connect battery jumpers ddirectly to the electrical motor to determine if the motor itself is faulty.
