"That turns slow with a bit of compression I can feel. the lower unit has a bit of oil on it. I want to know if there's anything I should do or look for before I gas it up & try to start it. I was thinking the basics clean the carb, check plugs,& compression. Am I missing something?"

"Agree clean carb and plugs. You dont say how old or give the model number. 7.5 were made in the 1950s and again in the early 1980s. The former at least will have points ignition so points and condition of coils is something else to consider if that old.
Top up that gearcase to the correct level too.

Fuel mix will be 1958 and prior 20:1, 1959 thru 1963 24:1, 1964 and newer 50:1.

What would be the reccomended oil for the mix?
also gear case oil?
