"I have a 1970, 18 HP evinrude

"I have a 1970, 18 HP evinrude outboard, and when i am driving, the motor will rev up and the prop stops spinning, and i cant seem to go more than 3 or 4 MPH when this happens. i checked the sheer pin and it is fine. any suggestions for what to look at???? PLEASE?"

"The propeller is a three piece component.

There is the propeller, a bronze hub, and vaulcanized rubber between the two such as you would see on a motor mount. The rubber fails and allows the propeller to slip upon the bronze hub.

As "ikia" indicates, either replace the propeller or have it rehubbed by a reliable propeller repair shop.
