Identifying a 40 Hp Evinrude Outboard

"Hi all need some help please.

"Hi all need some help please... I have a 40 HP twin Evinrude, dark blue motor covers and i cant find a engine nameplate on it. The only numbers I can find are on a raised casting (ontop of the block near the head) about 1 inch in size which are * 30475 ... and another number on a plug (looks like a welsh plug) on the top of the motor which is G3606376 any help would be good thanks, I was told it might be a late 70's unit"

I don't think any of those numbers are the model number need to identify the year. 40HP Evinrude numbers should be as seen here.

You could try posting a picture of it... maybe someone could identify it from a photo..."

"Thanks Andrew for the page link, do you know if the engine number or serial number is on a tag? or on the motor somewhere, because i cant seem to find a tag or plate or even a area that might have had a plate on it .. and i will upload a pic over the week end ....."
