    1963 Evinrude 5.5 run in garbage can.

    I just rebuilt the lower unit of my 1963 5.5 Evinrude with all the parts I could find. Replaced prop seal and driveshaft seal. Had to cut them out with a carbide burr dremel tool. Upon restarting, can I start this up in a can without the prop. That is the main question. Can I run this in a...

    propeller seal 1963 5.5 Evinrude

    After 20 minutes of run time in a can the lower unit is coated with thick oil. Water is full of thick oil also. Can't see any leak. Assuming prop shaft seal. Is it hard to change?

    1963 5.5 slow fast lean rich carb controls ?????

    First time owner of an outboard motor. Slow, fast, lean, rich carb controls. Can someone be kind enough to explain the function of these controls? Also, where should I set them to start motor? I haven't had it running yet. 1963 5.5 Evinrude.
