    Performance ?

    Should I expect the same performance #s from to different out boards that are from different manufacturers (mercury and evinrude) that are same 40 hp and both 2 cyl 2 strokes? Different props because of different gear ratios. Same boat .

    Have a Merc 02 40hp 2stk. Does this engine have the ability to charge two batteries at the same time?

    40hp 2str 2cyl 2002 merc

    On a 89 16ft Lowe aluminum mod-v. Has a 10-3/8x 12p on it. Tops out at 4000 Rpms and 26 mph. What prop do I need to get better performance. Taking suggestions thanks.

    Setting WOT

    02 Merc 40hp 2 cyl. Engine has been synced and carb rebuilt. Engine will bog down after 3/4 throttle.Noticed that at wot (when the trigger stops) the carb butterflys are not open 180 deg to opening. Is this correct?

    Wot troubleshooting

    02 40hp merc. Eng has been timed and carb adjusted. Will get up to only 3000 Rpms + no hole shot. Almost like running on 1 cyl. Need some help where to start. Thanks

    40hp shift shaft

    Merc mechanics Is it possible to reinstall shift shaft into lower unit by pulling bearing carrier and prop shaft out about a an inch and then install shift shaft and slide bearing carrier and prop shaft back in? Or does lower unit need to be torn down? Shift shaft pop out while pressure testing.:(

    Drive shaft seals

    02 Mecury 40hp 2cyl. I would like to replace drive shaft seals andI want to know if I can remove old ones and press in new ones without removing water pump base. Maybe just the neoprene seal if possible. I dont want to have to remove drive shaft. Any help would be appreciated.

    Mercury 40hp timing

    Rebuilt carb an need to set timing on engine. Problem is I do not have flywheel cover with timing indicator.Can I still time this engine somehow w/o timing light or do I need to get a flywheel cover? 02 40hp 2 stroke.Thanks.

    Engine idle

    I rebiult carbs to fix stalling issue and now have a high idle issue.(1200rpms). Engine is 89 40 hp rude.#40tlcec. Is there an idle adjustment on these carbs that I am missing? The low and high speed orfices are fixed but the intermediate is a needle valve. And can somebody tell me how many...
