    Help replacing a carrier bearing on a 1974 mercury 500 50hp

    After I push up the locking tab I unscrew that washer rite. Then do I just pull out the carrier bearing. ?? I don't have a specialized puller. Does the propeller shaft stay in?? Mine is cracked. I can't find one. Can I get it welded?? I'm in a mess. 1st time boat owner
