    BF 130 IAC Valve

Mike, You previously mentioned cleaning the IAC valve: the screen is cleaned how? It doesn't seem possible to remove the screen and blow out gunk from the inside of the screen, but blowing gunk in past the screen into the valve seems to defeat the purpose of the screen. Do you use a type of...

BF 130 - how to extract this broken bolt?

This bolt is one of two that attaches the zinc on the bottom of the frame. This is a hex bolt (6x40) with the head broken off and only about 1/4" protruding out of the bolt hole. Any suggestions on how to tackle this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Stan

Torque Pattern for 20 Bolts on Water Jacket BF 130

BF 130, 2000yr: reading spark plugs

Attached are two photos of plugs that indicate problems, but I don't know enough to diagnose it. Lately the engine has been a problem maintaining cruise at 4800 rpms. Running 18 miles to the sword grounds it works fine, but on the return trip full throttle will get only up to 4400 rpms. The...

Looking for the right compression tester tool for BF130

Hi, I need to buy a compression tester for the Honda BF 130. The plugs are deep set. I've tried one product with a rubber extension, and it had a rubber end - not a threaded end- and I couldn't get consistent pressure readings with it. Besides the rubber extension is not rigid enough to...

Does anyone use software to make schematics?

My electronic tinkering includes making schematic drawings of everything electrical on the boat. However, my tools are limited to a Lotus spreadsheet with line drawings. I would like to find free software that includes a library of typical 12 v components that can be snapped into drawings. Does...

BF130: Using a Remote Starter Switch

I have a 12v remote starter switch from Harbor Freight and would like to use it on the BF 130's Starter Magnetic Switch and do a compression test unless there are some no - nos involved. I think one wire on the remote switch goes to the positive (black and white wire on the Honda magnetic...

    BF 130, 2000yr

Thanks Mike, The relief valve is completely salted shut and that is probably the problem. Tomorrow I'll get new o rings and a gasket and see how it is then. As usual, you are right on and I appreciate your advice, hope you will never leave the forum! I'm disappointed with the salt removal...

    BF 130, 2000yr

Recently water comes out the exaust port opening when engine is running on muffs. This is a new development which seems like it has got to be bad news, but the engine runs great. Does anyone know what is going on and what should be done about it. See photo attached. Stan

Honda 130 cylinder head gasket leak?

A salt residue line just appeared on what appears to be the clinder head gasket locale. Attached photo explains more. Does this look serious enough to take any measures, like pulling the cyinder head? The engine is a year 2000.
