    Thanks for the reply. I finally tore into the lower unit. Is it normal that the tube on top of the impeller housing is a foot long piece of copper tube? I'm only seeing 4" rubber tubes on most kits. Is this because it's a long shaft? does that tube go into a boot at the top of the shaft? Thanks

    Hi everyone, I pulled apart my 1978 Mercury 20HP (Model 200) lower unit and inspected the impeller. I see that most impeller kits come with a 4-6" rubber tube on top of the pump housing.
