Just rebuilt powerhead last fall. Carbs are freshly rebuilt and squeaky clean throughout. Reed valves are perfect. SPark jumps 7/16 gap - compression is 135-140 on both. No crankcase air leaks found anywhere. Very meticulous during the rebuild in terms of crankcase assembly and torque values...
1985 E50BELCO
I just rebuilt it and even before that I was having idle issues. It is spitting fuel from the Idle Bleed Orifices (Not from carb Throat at all) and I have to crack the carbs ever so slightly with cam adjustment to get to stay Idling. If I adjust it back and close them completely...
Motor was rebuilt after said damage tore up the cylinder wall...this is the old head. I have it on there now and running but just want to know the general consensus on the condition. The sealing surface is fine and the area around the plug hole is good. Ive smoothed the head out on flat surface...
Got my 50 hp back together and took it for a spin everything went together great and ran good. Noticed slight clatter when running so when I got home I looked everything over and noticed a tiny bit of side play in the flywheel. Maybe 1/64" and a little clunk when pushed forward/aft. No up/down...
I know this has been beat to death but I just want to get an opinion or 12 considering my style of usage. Rebuild in progress 1985 E50BELCO- going very well. New Pistons, rings, honed etc.. Given the fact I rarely stay at WOT over 5 minutes and usually my whole journey between fishing spots is...
E50BELCO - deepest gouge appears to be somewhere in the .010-.015 range. Cylinder measures 3.210. Think it can it be bored out? If so Ill rebuild it with a full rebuild kit and oversize pistons etc.. If not Ill make a lamp out of it. Havent had it looked at yet. Sleeve appears to be a good 1/8"...
Working on cousins mercury...having some issues. Just want to check the easy stuff before I go taking carbs off etc....good spark and compression. What's the timing settings? Thanks
Here I go again with some of my crazy ideas. Want to run it by you electrical wizards out there and get some opinions. I have my starting battery seperate from my deep cycle but want the to both charge from the outboard. Linking them in parallel (regular and deep cycle) from what ive gathered...
Figure Id go ahead and make a new thread on this...Title says it all. Water pump isnt new but is working great..strong pee stream... but stream never warms up at all.
After 5 minutes or so at anything below 1200ish RPM.. top cylinder gets hot and buzzer sounds. I can run at meduim throttle to...
Checked mine the other day and no o-ring at all...ordered one and this is the only pic of one I could find....is that really the right way?? looks weird to me.
This is whoopin me..good compression and spark...carbs gone through...clean as a whistle..fuel pump freshly rebuilt (VRO Removed and regular pump put on the pulse hole on side..Front pulse hole has plug)..no change...All fuel lines in good shape and not sucking air. runs great when you advance...
On my E50BELCO.1985 - Took it out for the first test run and couldnt be happier...ran like a top. Prior to that I had to change to timer base because the old one had bad bushing and there was evidence of contact. Anyway - got it all together- test ran at home - all good...ran on the lake for...
SO I have the lower unit on the workbench waiting for water pump parts. Saw some oil from the shift shaft so I decided to go ahead and tear down and reseal it and check clutch dog condition etc.. My question is this: When I spin the driveshaft by hand I can hear and feel the gear teeth...
Just got a 1985 Evinrude 50HP. Got it fired up and first thing I looked for was water from the telltale...little to none...revved and finally came very slowly. Pulled the LU and checked the impeller - blades were bent to shape but was still intact. Put water hose to the water tube in the...
I posted a while back about my 1975 Evinrude 135hp 135589E Not charging. Pretty much diagnosed down to a bad/incorrect rectifier that I pulled off an old motor...Got a new one..and voltage still only increasing about 2/10ths of a volt when revving (a little). Noticed the new rectifier has 2...
