Hello Guys
I am running a merc cruiser 228 with a quad jet Rochester carb in a 30' trojan with twin screws. When we are running at about 3100 rpms the engine will occasionally rev up and then back down 200-300 RPMS and it will not take any more r's up to wide open throttle. It gets right up...
Hey Guys I have a 318 that ticks sometimes. It comes and goes. On the way in I pulled the engine hatch just to check up on things and heard the tick. We idled it down for a few minutes it went away so we "R'd" it back up and it came back, we idled it back down for 5-10 minutes and it went...
So what does this mean? in correlation to the timing procedure? Is there where you start? Sorry for the lack of knowledge on this subject and thanks for your help.
Hey guys thought I would start a new thread to tackle how to time this 1973 318. I found the rubber flap on the bell housing and seen the flywheel. However is there suppose to be stationary marks in there?
I also heard someone say something about the Harmonic Balancer. Where is that...
Hey Guys
Thanks for your help so far, I have been thinking hard about how this raw water system works and am a little stumped. Hoping for some insight. First of all will someone please confirm that this is the way the thermostat is suppose to be installed.
If so when the thermostat is in...
Is this the way the thermostat is suppose to look like? I thought mine was shot because it looks like it couldn't stop water because you can see right through it. Is that the way it is suppose to be? Thanks
Yes Sorry, I am stuck on the on the ignition and the fuel right now until I can make it back to the boat. Although I do still need to know where to time it at. The Front scribe on the front pulley or the flywheel in back? All of this is on the same engine though. I figure it could all be...
Ok Guys, well after reading this I was looking through a service maneul that I found in the boat and stumbbled apon this "service Bulletin"
Apparently reguardless of what the pump says, the water intake comes into the rear pocket of the pump and through the exhaust manifolds, Thru the "oil...
I do believe these engines spin in different directions. Initially I looked at the other engine and hooked up the same as that one, it would still over heat. So then I hooked it up according the the marks on the bottom side of the pump. There is an in and an out. I hooked the raw water...
Here is the bottom side of my pump. But I don't think it has room for 2 impellers. When I went to the parts store they gave me on that fit. Does this pump take 2 impellers? When we bought as far as I could tell, they only had one impeller in them and we changed them last year.
Anyone have...
I was thinking that same thing! I am going to bypass everything right to the fuel pump and see if that does it. I will do that when I get back out next weekend. Thank you for the suggestion.
I will defanitley let everyone know when and what solved this. I am thankful for all of the help...
