    1969? 20 HP Johnson Carb. [mod. fd-21R]

    I am in the midst of rebuilding a late 60's vintage 20 hp carb. the kit came with a hair spring for the needle valve. However the exploded parts diagram for the engine does not show it. I do see it on a 3HP diagram. My issue is I have lost the spring. My question is do I need it?
