    Should I remove the drive gear on the oil injection on a1988 80 hp 3 cylinder or just leave it and put plate on? Ive heard both ways. Thanks

    1988 merc 80 hp lower unit Identification

    on the parts diagrahm my lower unit has slots on each side towards the back. looks like a place for water to exit. The lower unit on my engine has 2 rectangular holes in the same place. looks like zinks should go there. when the engine runs warm water squirts out the shift shaft hole...

    water coming out shift rod on lower unit on 1988 merc 80 hp 3 cylinder

    trying to figure a couple things out. when i start the motor water squirts out shift rod hole and another hole right by the shift rod the water is warm and plenty of water out pee hole Is there something wrong? running motor in barrell and not on muffs. Thanks

    Ive bought a 1988 mercury 80 hp 3 cylinder,trying to figure a few things out.Figured out charging circut thanks to forum .The oil injection has been removed so has the warning module.There is no temp sending switch looks like a place one could go on thermoust housing but no place to screw it...

    Does that stator need a rectifier or a different regulator that mounts on air box the yellow wires that go to rectifier look like they have got the motor is electric start with tilt trim is that 9 or 16 amp stator thanks
