    A 50TLRB came with two ivory coloured four pin connectors that are to be connected to Yamaha gauges via a Yamaha wire harness. Those two connectors (one male and one female) do not connect together. Are these the two connectors of which you speak?

    See if you can find the markings on the carburetor and the CDI box. You can then use those numbers to find the applicable part numbers in the Yamaha parts catalog, if you can't find them anywhere else. Might be a greater liklihood of finding parts from Yamaha than from Mercury Marine.

    Were you using a meter set on AC or a meter set on DC with a peak voltage adapter in use? If the former I am thinking the charge coil is outputting sufficient voltage. Leading one to suspect the rectifier regulator.

    Battery cables are not fused. But there are wires that are fused. Depends upon the motor model.
