Motor is E150GLEDB. On 1997 Ranger 461
Replaced the OMS pump in spring 2022 with Evinrude original unit due to a bogging condition and a faulty excess smoking. During that work I replaced all fuel lines, oil lines, primer bulb, and fuel tank selector switch.
The engine runs top notch and I can reach 5500 RPM with no bogging or stumbling. The problem is I’m still getting a lot of smoke and excess oil consumption. I haven’t measured it directly but it seems like I’m burning through about double oil. On my current fishing trip I’ve used about 1 gallon of oil in just under 30 gallons of fuel. Everything on the fuel side should be in good shape so the only thing I can think of is a faulty OMS pump. I want to keep the pump in service because I don’t like to premix but buying an other $400 pump on a guess isn’t then best idea.
Im open for suggestions of troubleshooting I can do to check this new pump.
Thanks.
