Mercury XR 6 150

I have a 1996 Mercury XR 6 150. It always cranks right up when I first get to the lake. After making a long run and then stopping and fishing for 45 minutes or so it will not start back up. I have to let it sit for a good little while before it will start. Runs Great after starting...Any Ideas ?

Take a timing light with you, When it wont start check to see if it has spark. If it doesn't stator is failing from heat soak or bad rect/reg. Is the motor overcharging??????

I don't think the motor is over charging, Not sure what you mean rect/ reg I'm not much of boat mechanic. I have never done anything to this motor except changed plugs and fuel filter in the 15 years I've had it.

OK...THANKS ALOT...I think you are on the right track. I'm pretty sure it is getting gas and I just changed the spark plugs recently. Would you change the starter also?
