" I have a 1993 40 horse force
" I have a 1993 40 horse force outboard, my problem was the tachometer quit working and the volt meter was spiking over the high limit. I changed the rectifier, however the old one had 5 wires and the new one had six (one extra red wire which I attached to the starter solenoid)and that fixed the tachometer and voltage spiking but when I start the motor the voltage meter reads 12 volts and as soon as I give it a little gas the voltage meter goes up to 15 volts and will stay there even when I change the speed until I turn the motor off. Is this a problem ? "
