" where can I find out the year and value of an outboard motor by entering its serial number? Is this info that a dealer would give me willingly? The details that I have is Mercury 20hp, pull start, long shaft, NEVER made it into a boat or the water. serial number is OD010878.

That appears to be a 1991 model motor according to my index. Mercury products aren't based on "model year", so am not certain.

You can check for value in our price guide, but yours would be worth more if it has never been used.
