"hey guys, I just have a quick question. I got the motor above and am trying to test all the switches and wiring. Right now I've got a new ignition on and the amp light comes on, but I cannot get the tilt to work, it doesnt go down. Can the electro-mechanical go bad? Right now there are two key switches, one for the ignition and i dont know what the other one is for but I am getting a new switch tomorrow to see if it'll solve the problem. Can you guys also tell me which wire goes to which from the electro-mechanical to the switch? also the previous owners lost the original keys, the boat has 2 key switches, so far I've replaced the ignition that starts the motor but havent replaced the other one because i dont know if I need to or not. I was reading the owners manual and its talking about turning off the ignition key to stop the motor and not turn off the master switch, is the other key switch the master switch? thanks for your time!"

"The "master switch" i

"The "master switch" is the "battery switch", item 11 on page 20 of the owner's manual. Also, the manual has a drawing in page 21 describing which wire goes where in the tilt mechanism. Basically, 1 is the key switch which is linked with a red wire to the outdrive tilt mechanism switch 2. Then you have two relays: the one at the left is to lower the gear, and it has a limit switch (5) that is opened by the retaining pawl pushrod once the outdrive is on its lowest position. Make sure that the limit switch (part 30 in the link below) is closed when the outdrive is up, or the outdrive won't lower. Also, make sure that the thermal overload relay (part 6 in your manual's drawing, page 21) is not open, or the tilt mechanism motor won't work.

You just need a volt meter and do some basic electrical troubleshooting.
