"(Easy question for someone out there, so be nice :)

Before I tear into it, I was wondering where the thermostat is located on our 2000 30HP. Is it where the wire leads into on top of the head? I'll attach an image if it can't be described to me exactly where it is located.

Also, is there not a webpage that provides schematics that would easily answer questions like this for me without the need to post and look stupid? :)"

Now we see that our problem may be with the temperature switch where some melting of the wires and rubber housing has occurred. Can you or anyone else tell us the function of a temperature switch?

Could this have been damaged by slight overheating?

"The temp switc is connected to the Power-pack and initiates SLOW and the alarm buzzer (electric, remote only).
Melting of parts is not considdered 'slightly' overheat, but severe!
Down with gearcase and check/replace impeller/housing (might be melted!). The same goes for thermostat: replace!"
