" Have a 4.3 OMC outdrive on a 88 Seaswirl 202 STryker. The throttle is very hard to shift into neutral when under a forward load. It's so stiff that when you try to go to neutral, you go past it into reverse causing a dangerous situation. Anyone have any ideas or comments.? "

Sounds to me like the shift interrupter switch is either broken or disconnected. If it was functioning but not adjusted propoerly the switch would kiil the engine when shfting. If you need to pull the shifter that hard the tension certainly would trigger the switch. Check and see if (a) the switch is there (b) if it is is it connected electrically the right way and (c) run the engine and acuate the microswitch by hand to see if it will kill the engine.
