"Hi Gang.
Could someone please instruct me on how to remove the 2 trim cyls. from my DP transom shield. The lines are no problem. It looks like 2 bolts on the inside of the shield hold the cyls in place. Is it as simple as loosening and pulling the bolts out? I don't want anymore surprises.

Thanks, Jon Allen"

"Jon,
You'll find the removal procedure here, beginning on page 142: http://www.mybayliner.co.uk/boatmad/280285290.pdf

However, those dowel pins may not come out for one reason or another, so you are left with two options: 1) Remove the transom shield and use a slide hammer to pull the dowel pins out or: 2) replace the bottom 2/3 of the trim cylinders (which houses the "guts" and piston) by using a strap wrench and unscrewing them from the caps that are held in place by the dowel pins and replace with new or rebuilt 2/3 if possible.

I had to resort to option #1 and it was a real pain in the butt. Good luck.
