"I need to repair a dime size hole in #1 cyllinder head. Tried welding rod it melted hole biger, tried torch with silver rod, no stick. What is it made of? What rods do I need to repair."

"It is made of aluminum. For the most part I don't believe a "backyard mechanic" should be trying to repair an outboard block. I'm assuming you had a busted rod or something that has since been repaired. Personally, if it is repairable, I'd take it to a machine shop.

According to the website HTS-2000 brazing rods are good for this type of repair. Try at your own risk. I have not used them.
