I have an inboard 454 that has a cracked block. I am working on the motor for the first time and i am having a problem getting a block for it. Must be a shortage. I have talked with a number of "professionals" and feel more confused than ever. Does anyone have any ideas finding a block or maybe a reputable place to buy a short block? Should i scrap the short block idea and go with a long block? Do i need to be careful with buying a refurbished engine over a remanufactured motor? I also had i guy tell me that i could instal a 330 and would have no problems. Looking for advice!

"Not exactly sure what 454 you are looking for. Here is a website where you can start.

They have several remans listed. I bought a Chrysler 318 there last season, which worked out well for me. Good Luck, Chuck"

"Actually you can buy the Gen V longblock new. Reman has never been a problem either, I don't know why you're having problems. Tell me what version you have, I might have what you need."
