94 Evinrude 150 wont go into reverse after seal change

"Ok, I changed main drive shaf

"Ok, I changed main drive shaft seal, the shift shaft o rings, and waterpump and reassembled. After reassembly the prop shaft appears to have more play than normal (moves in and out) and the gear case will not go into reverse. I'm not sure what I did exactly to make it not function.

Did i miss something really obvious here?
I'm at a total loss on this one. it's a E150GLERV"

"Not familiar with a 94, but on earlier models this is a good sign that when you put the shift rod pinbolt back in, you missed the shift rod hole and the rod can be pushed down but not up."
