What's a "normal"

What's a "normal" amount of steam from these motors from exhaust that is 1/2 above & 1/2 below the waterline? At idle speed get a minimal slow rolling amount of steam that dissipates after 5-10' or so. Running get similar steam that will dissipate after 10-15' maybe. Motors are twin 1988 454s FWC.

Bought the boat last year with 1000 hrs and replaced elbows and risers. Manifolds appeared to be in very good condotion so left alone. All temps seem good and do not burn any oil or coolant. Seawater temps are in the 70s. Thanks

How do you know this? Have you sweep the entire engine and exhaust system with a laser temp gun? If not, you're guessing.

Suggest that you (and EVRY boater) add one to their essential tools. You wouldn't believe how useful they are. Under 30 bucks if you look around.

"Yes I have, should have added that. What are the proper temps for manifold, risers, elbows, block?"

"Good man! I have RWC engines

"Good man! I have RWC engines, and the manifolds run 130 to 150 'F. The risers run about 120 to 130 'F. (The motor runs about 150 ' F). I see steam now and then as well.

It is a closed cooling system

It is a closed cooling system that I have. So I assume that it is normal to run "hotter"
