I have a Westerbeke 15.0 genny. Engine runs great but the generator side sometimes produces high voltage (needle on panel is pegged, well above 120v).
I have struggles with this all season, at times its fine and only seems to happen when air flow in the engine room stops and ambient temp increases.
I noticed last weekend when it happened the rpm's increased but in no way was a runaway situation, just a slight increase. It did not go back down.
I have blown 2 ac boards and a compressor so far due to this.
Any ideas? Would the electronic controller be bad or being affected by heat? Governor?
Thanks, Mike
