"Every once and a while I see a slight puff of either smoke or steam coming out of the carb. Could this be that the fuel seperator is plugged and its burning up some water? Has anyone else seen this happen? Also, does anyone have any tips on how to raise the oil pressure without having to rebuild the entire engine? Thanks!"

"If you even have an inkling that your separator is contaminated, change it. That's why it is there. It is unlikely this is causing your carb problem without having other symptoms at high speed.

Low oil pressure is an indication of a motor in need of rebuilding. Higher oil pressure is not going to change that. You can use a higher viscosity motor oil or a straight viscosity in place of the multi-viscosity to get a higher reading on your gage but it's not going to correct the worn bearings or oil pump. Pumps do wear and if you are truly suffering from low oil pressure, you may simply want to try replacing the oil pump."
