Walter RV-40 V-Drive

I have a pair of Walter RV-40 V-drives that need new (rebuilt??) CV joints. Walter says that they not available any more, but that they'll happily sell me a new set of V-drives for $8,000. The gears, bearings and everything else in these units are showing almost no wear, and I just can't justify paying $8,000 (+ shipping + border costs (I'm in Canada) + new installation + etc) over a couple of $100 CV joints.

Have any of you got any suggestions?

Have a pair of RV40 in 1968 Carri-Craft that run perfect but get water in oil. Probably not properly winterzed and have cracked gear housing. They have 650 hours on them but will have to replace because they are obsolete. Maybe good for parts. Call me 850 559 5693

If you just need a regular U-Joint, and you are in or close to a major city, a good auto drive line shop (ones that make driveshafts) can match up what you have if you take it to them...

Hey there I realize this is an over decade old post but i was wondering if you ever repaired those Walter RV-40's? Or if you replaced them with new units. I am currently over powered for the RV-30 drive that I have right now. Walters wanted about 6k to furnish me an RV-40. I developed a lower seal leak that I am repairing to get back on the water temporarillybut am looking for a functioning used take out or a rebuild-able RV-40. I Looking for a remote unit,15degree, 1.50:1 ratio. If you have an RV-40 available to sell or know of one please contact me.
